Design pressure (DP) is the wind load rating a product must meet for your specific location. We calculate it for every opening using your address, elevation, and exposure category. Without it, you may have shutters installed to a generic spec that doesn’t match your actual wind loads — meaning your insurance wind mitigation claim may be rejected.

Most residential installations are completed in one to two days. Larger homes, motorized systems, or properties with difficult second-floor access may require three days. We give you a firm schedule at the estimate stage.

Yes — certified shutter systems that meet NC and SC wind rating thresholds qualify for wind mitigation credits. We provide every document your insurer needs: product approvals, installation records, and the completed wind mitigation inspection form. You submit it to your insurer directly.

For full wind mitigation credit, all openings must be protected. Leaving one unprotected window in a wind-borne debris region can void your credit and leave a weak point in your building envelope. We specify protection for every opening during the estimate.

Plywood is not a certified hurricane protection system and does not qualify for wind mitigation insurance credits. It also requires storage, labor to install before each storm, and replacement after damage. Certified shutters are a one-time installation that deploys in seconds.
